Workster is partnering with a leading global professional services organization to recruit a Principal Cybersecurity Project Manager / PMO Lead for its growing cybersecurity operations in Sofia, Bulgaria.
This senior-level position will play a key role in driving enterprise-wide cybersecurity and vulnerability management initiatives, sitting at the intersection of cybersecurity, IT operations, project governance, and risk management. The successful candidate will lead complex security programs, establish effective governance structures, and support the development of a high-performing Managed Detection and Response (MDR) function.
Your Role
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex cybersecurity projects and programs, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives, MDR strategy, and regulatory requirements
- Lead and oversee the Vulnerability Management PMO function
- Establish and maintain effective governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and risk management processes
- Act as the primary liaison for senior stakeholders, communicating project progress, risks, dependencies, and priorities
- Coordinate and lead project scoping sessions, intake discussions, and alignment activities with internal teams and external partners
- Drive vulnerability management initiatives covering identification, prioritization, remediation, and continuous improvement
- Ensure cybersecurity programs follow recognised standards and best practices, including NIST and ISO 27001
- Support compliance with internal frameworks and applicable regional regulatory requirements
- Participate in the setup and development of an MDR team in Sofia
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across project teams
- Identify opportunities to optimise processes and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of cybersecurity programs
- Lead security-related projects, including penetration testing engagements
- Ensure effective coordination between cybersecurity, IT operations, business stakeholders, and external partners
Your Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 10+ years of project or program management experience, including at least 5 years within cybersecurity
- PMP and/or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification is mandatory
- Agile certification such as PMI-ACP, CSM, PSM, or equivalent
- Cybersecurity certification such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or OSCP
- Proven experience leading complex cybersecurity and security transformation projects
- Demonstrated experience managing penetration testing engagements
- Strong knowledge of vulnerability management, cybersecurity governance, and risk management
- Proven expertise working with Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies
- Proficiency with MS Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, and Confluence
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity standards and frameworks, including NIST and ISO 27001
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements within the European Economic Area (EEA), particularly in high-security environments
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills in client-facing environments
- Proactive and self-driven approach to problem-solving, project delivery, and team coordination
- Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives, priorities, risks, and dependencies simultaneously
