Cybersecurity Engineer - Infrastructure & Security Systems

About us

ArmadilCo is a Plovdiv-based cybersecurity consultancy. We design, build and support secure IT infrastructure for small and medium-sized businesses across Bulgaria: from servers and networks to backup, monitoring and endpoint protection. We also advise medical device manufacturers on international cybersecurity regulations. Our projects are hands-on, end-to-end and documented to a high standard.

The role

We are looking for a systems and security engineer to help deliver infrastructure projects, and to take ownership of monitoring and maintaining the systems we hand over to our clients. You will work directly with the managing director on real client environments, from initial setup through to long-term support.

What you will do

Project delivery

• Build and configure virtualisation platforms (Proxmox VE) with ZFS storage, and backup systems (Proxmox Backup Server), including restore testing.
• Deploy and administer Windows Server environments: Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, certificate services and NPS.
• Install and maintain Linux services (Ubuntu), including file sharing and collaboration platforms such as Nextcloud.
• Configure network and security equipment: UniFi gateways, switches and access points, firewall rules, VLANs, IPS, and site-to-site and remote-access VPNs (WireGuard, IPsec).
• Roll out and tune endpoint protection (Bitdefender GravityZone EDR) and security monitoring (Wazuh SIEM).
• Migrate client data and onboard workstations and users into new environments.
• Produce clear technical documentation, administrator guides and user guides.

Monitoring and maintenance

• Monitor client systems and respond to alerts from the SIEM, EDR, backup, hardware and network monitoring.
• Investigate security events, identify root causes, and propose and implement fixes.
• Apply operating system, application and firmware updates in agreed maintenance windows.
• Check that backups run and verify them regularly with restore tests.
• Maintain UPS, power and hardware monitoring, and respond to hardware alerts.
• Keep documentation, configuration records and status reports up to date.
• Coordinate mantanance activities with clients

What we are looking for

Required

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in system administration or infrastructure engineering.
• Solid experience with Windows Server and Active Directory, and with Linux administration.
• A good understanding of networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, firewalls and VPNs.
• Experience with virtualisation (Proxmox, VMware or Hyper-V) and with backup and recovery.
• Comfortable on the command line (Bash, PowerShell).
• A methodical way of working: you verify before you change, test before you hand over, and document what you did.
• Fluent Bulgarian, and good written English for technical documentation and vendor resources.
• Based in Bulgaria, available to work on site when needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with Proxmox VE/PBS and ZFS.
• Experience with UniFi or similar network platforms.
• Experience with SIEM or EDR tools (Wazuh, GravityZone or similar).
• Familiarity with 802.1X, PKI or certificate services.
• Scripting or automation skills (Python, Ansible).
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CCNA, Microsoft or Linux certifications.
• Driving licence (category B).
